Members of the Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter earned quite a few honors at the recent Texas Citrus Fiesta Youth Show.
In the citrus identification and judging contest senior division, the Veterans Memorial team placed first. Team members were: Zenaida Alaniz, David Bazan, Marco Diaz, Roy Guerrero. Alaniz was also the high point earner in the senior division. The chapter’s junior division team earned second placed. The junior team members were: Klarissa Farias, Fernando Gonzalez, Katilyn Ramirez, Jorge Salinas. In the sub-junior division, Bella Alaniz and Jose Salinas placed first.
Chapter results for the citrus entry, variety division included: Johnny Martinez, first place, calamondin novelty fruit; John M. Martinez, first place, Mexican lime; Zenaida Alaniz, first place, grapefruit cluster quality/quantity; Zenaida Alaniz, second place sour orange; Kendra Garcia, second place Marrs orange; Kendra Garcia, second place, Ruby Red; Kendra Garcia, third place, Dancy Tangerine; J.R. Martinez, third place, Meyer lemon.
