MHS band students advance to state competition

                The Mission High School (MHS) Band was represented at the recent UIL regional solo and ensemble contest by students from MHS and Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS). Their poise and performances earned high marks from the judges. Thirty three students performed Class 1 solos (collegiate level) that received first division ratings. Of those, 22 will be advancing to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble competition that will be held at UT-Austin in late May.

                Students advancing to state UIL from the MHS band are: Tiana Rivas, Gabby Reyna, Alejandra Reyna, Jesus Olivares, Adan Coronado III, Jaime Garza, Christian Cruz, Christian Gonzalez, Armando Montemayor, Ana Rodriguez, Max Briones, Carlos Garcia, Osvaldo Mateo, Jose Ochoa, Annautica Perez, Jay Reta, Melissa Salinas, Ivan Guardado, Angel Mata (MCHS), William Rosa, Joseph Salinas.

                Other students who also earned a first division rating for their performances are: Bryzeyda Cruz, Jeselle Gonzalez, Nayeli Lopez, Pedro Silva, Lucy Miranda (MCHS), Emily Gonzalez-Torres, Oscar Salinas, Efren Suarez, Aylin Reta, Enrique Pina. Giselle Ponce, Diego Marquez, Sergio Chavez, Laryssa Fuentes, Maria L. Martinez (MCHS), Ruben Cantu, Brijida Luna, Javier Sanchez.
