Trio of MHS powerlifters are heading to state

Three students representing Mission High School (MHS) are advancing to the state powerlifting competition after recent regional competitions. Sally Ochoa (pictured center) placed first at regionals. Vaneliy Guerrero (pictured left) placed fourth. Estephany Gonzalez (pictured right) is actually a student at Mission Collegiate High School, but participates in the event through MHS.

Powerlifting consists of three different lifts: bench press, squat, and deadlift. The scores on the three lifts are combined for a final score.

The state competition will be held on March 20 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
