MHS FBLA student advances to national competitions

                Mission, Texas- The Mission High School (MHS) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter sent 16 students to the Texas FBLA State Competitive Events held in San Antonio, Texas. Several honors were earned and one student is advancing to the FBLA national competitions.

                Javier Nevarez is advancing to the national Accounting II competition of the FBLA National Leadership Conference to be held in Chicago, IL in late June. He placed third in state competitions.

                Jasmin Vega placed fifth in the state database applications competition and will serve as the second alternate for nationals. Yvette Cazares was recognized at the state conference for the Texas Who’s Who. Advisor, Ramiro O’Cana was recognized for 35 years of service to FBLA.

The 16 students who advanced to the state competitions based upon their performance at the  FBLA Area 4 competitions were: Yvette Cazares, business procedures; Javier Nevarez, accounting II; Eri Longoria, business law; Jasmin Vega, database design and applications; Alexia Puente, desktop publishing; Violet Rivera, economics; Joseph Esquivel, business communication; Carlos Nava, networking concepts; Francis Cisneros, insurance and risk management; Jonathan Gonzalez, securities and investments; Juan Castaneda, business communication; Yvette Cazares, accounting I; Luis Gonzalez, business calculations; Mario Salinas, business communication; Artie Anzaldua, insurance and risk management; Adolfo Lopez, word processing.
