Three Mission CISD parents selected for state advisory council

                Mission, Texas- Three parents of Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) students have been selected for the State Migrant Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Elba Carmona (pictured left), Blanca Tijerina (pictured center), and Reyna Leticia Gonzalez (pictured right) will serve a two-year term on the state council. These three are also currently serving on the Mission CISD migrant PAC.

                The state migrant PAC is an advisory group of 15 members, the majority of which are parents of migrant children. Their main role is to advise the Texas Education Agency in planning, implementing, and evaluating the state program designed to meet the educational needs of migrant children. This includes: the Texas Migrant State Plan, programs and services offered to migrant children, evaluation of migrant programs, quantity and quality of parent involvement.  All recommendations made by the state PAC are given to the state director of the migrant education program.
