City of Alton provides support to students heading for state and national competitions

Mission, Texas- Officials from the City of Alton and the Alton City Commission show a growing support of Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) schools in their community. Through donations, they have provided financial help that has been used to provide travel needs for students competing at state and national competitions.

Most recently, donations were made in support of the Alton Memorial Jr. High School Science Bowl team that left for Washington, DC on April 30 for the National Science Bowl competition. The donations have helped make sure students had appropriate luggage, etc. for the trip.

In the early morning hours of Friday, May 1, the Alton Fire Department plans to give the state-bound Alton Memorial Jr. High School Robo-Rangers robotics teams a noisy escort through town as their buses leave for state competitions.

The Alton City Commission regularly includes special recognitions of student and school achievements as a part of their meetings throughout the year.
