VMHS academic UIL students advance to state competitions

                Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School Academic UIL team recently earned sweepstakes honors at the regional competition and are advancing students to the state academic UIL contest.

                The Calculators team, Mathematics team, Number Sense team, and Spelling and Vocabulary team qualified to compete at the state meet that will be held in late May.

                Members of the Calculators team are: Darius Davis, Henry Davis III, Kimberly Garza, Lee Sanchez.

                Members of the Mathematics team are: Darius Davis, Henry Davis III, Feliciano “CJ” Escobedo, Hector Iglesias.

                Members of the Number Sense team are: Darius Davis, Feliciano “CJ” Escobedo, Hector Iglesias, Kellen Shults.

                Members of the Spelling and Vocabulary team are: Alexandra Galvez, Cassandra Galvez, Kimberly Garza, Mirna Rodriguez.

                Top placing individuals from the regional UIL who are also competing at the state event include: Darius Davis, first place Number Sense, third place Calculators, first place Mathematics; Henry Davis III, fourth place Calclulators; Hector Iglesias, second place Computer Science, fourth place Mathematics; Feliciano “CJ” Escobedo, sixth place Number Sense; Kimberly Garza, first place Spelling/Vocabulary.
