Mission, Texas- A group of 15 students at Castro Elementary School ended a 12-week journey by celebrating their personal accomplishments and by giving back to someone in need. The students were a part of a program called, Girls on the Run. They meet a couple times a week to cover lessons taught by a certified, Girls on the Run coach. The lessons and activities are designed to build self-esteem, encourage and motivate, and help build teamwork and understanding. The program ends with the girls and their running buddies completing a 5K running event.
The Castro Elementary girls not only completed their 5K, they also worked on a special project that will provide three people battling illnesses with special prayer blankets.
