Prepping for Dual Language expansion

The district’s Dual Language program will be expanding this coming school year in our elementary schools; serving students in grades Pre-K through second. Part of the preparation for this expansion involves giving classroom teachers the additional training and support to effectively implement the program in their classrooms. Many teachers attended a special district Dual Language Teacher Academy this week designed to help them prepare.  The district plans to expand the Dual Language program each school year until the program is available for all elementary students. Mission CISD is using a proven, one-way dual language enrichment model. Through this model, bilingual students receive instruction for some subjects in Spanish; while others are done in English.
