Special Chemistry lessons and a college visit, all in one

Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) students enrolled in the UT ChemBridge course, along with seniors from VMHS, Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS), and Mission High School (MHS) recently made a special trip to the University of Texas-Austin campus. For many of them, this was a combination of an official college campus exploratory visit and a part of their ChemBridge course.

The ChemBridge course lessons were provided by UT professor Dr. Kate Biberdorf. Two short videos show parts of those lessons using liquid nitrogen.

The ChemBridge course is an opportunity for the students to earn six UT credit hours and high school credit. The ChemBridge course in primarily an online course. The main focus has been to explain how climate change has come about and how knowledge of Chemistry can help make them better prepared as citizens. It is a course for non-Chemistry majors who may still need Chemistry credit.
