Mission, Texas- About 1,000 Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) elementary school students gathered for the big battle of the minds known as the Mission CISD Elementary District UIL meet at Salinas Elementary School. Students competed in: math, number sense, calculators, science, spelling, writing, listening, maps/charts/graphs, dictionary skills, chess, oral reading, storytelling, art, and music.
When the dust settled at the end of the day, the team from Mims Elementary School rose to the top and won the district meet. The other top place finishers included: Midkiff Elementary School, second; Bryan Elementary School, third; Cavazos Elementary School, fourth; Cantu Elementary School, fifth; Waitz Elementary School, sixth.
