Two Mission CISD schools to be recognized as area top reader schools

Mission, Texas- Two Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) schools will be recognized this week during the Festival of South Texas International Books and Art (FESTIBA). The two schools are being recognized as top reader schools. Several area school districts were asked to select two schools to receive the recognition.

            Cavazos Elementary School and K. White Jr. High School were selected, based upon their activity in the Accelerated Reader program. Cavazos Elementary School has posted the highest number of books read by students among the Mission CISD elementary schools, 41,202. K. White Jr. High School recorded 20,802 books read by students.

            The schools will be recognized during the FESTIBA Community Day on March 4 during activities taking place from 6:00-10:00 p.m. The Community Day events will be held in the Edinburg City Hall Courtyard located at 415 W. University Dr., Edinburg. The event will also feature: artist expo, live theater, authors, book signings, games, workshops, food vendors.
