Waitz Elementary Dedication Walk

It was a time for remembrance, and to recognize and support those who have dealt with battling cancer. Waitz Elementary School, recently held a special dedication walk as a part of its efforts in support of the upcoming annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Students were encouraged to donate $2 and decorate a poster for family members who had lost the battle with cancer, or is currently fighting the disease. Students and staff were to wear purple for the Dedication Walk. A part of the walk included a “survivor’s lap” by Waitz staff members/cancer survivors, Ms. Balderrama, Ms. Morales, and Ms. Abrego. They were joined in the special lab by Mr. Cuellar, who’s wife is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

All Mission CISD schools and departments are being encouraged to participate in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on April 2.
