Mission CISD honors the top students in the classes of 2016

            Mission, Texas- The Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) Board of Trustees hosted its annual Mission Academic Excellence Awards Banquet March 24. This banquet and award honors the top five percent of the senior classes from Mission Collegiate High School, Mission High School, and Veterans Memorial High School. Each student is recognized individually by the members of the Board of Trustees.

            In addition to honoring the top seniors, each student honoree invites an educator who has been important in their lives to honor as well.

            The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Mission Collegiate High School are: Jose Alonso Garcia, Jennifer Theresa Chan Kearns, Kenya Natalie Oyervides, Bianca Ianelli Rodriguez, Joselyne Rodriguez.

            The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Mission High School are: Anahi Farideh Barajas, Sarah Katherine Cantu, Yvette Aileen Cazares, Eric Roberto De Leon, Stefanie Florez, Jin Hui Gao, Carlos Gabriel Garcia, Gabriel Gonzalez, Jeselle Aleisha Gonzalez, Chelsea Valeria Martinez, Katherine Nicole McKenna, Israel Perez III, Alejandra Karima Reyna, Ashley Nichole Rivera, Dante Rodriguez, Kazzandra Rodriguez, Maxine Rodriguez, Marco Aaron Silva, Pedro Eduardo Silva, Ricardo Yruegas.

            The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Veterans Memorial High School are: Brittany Nicole Bazaldua, Samantha Elise Diaz, Jennifer Elizondo, Feliciano Escobedo, Karina Elena Farias, Tomas Alejandro Garcia, Sophia Urbana Garza, Mariah Renee Gonzalez, Daniela Alejandra Guzman, Hector Luis Iglesias, Fernanda Alejandra Marrero, John Paul Martinez, Hannabeth Raschel Medina, Ixtaccihuatl Hortencia Obregon, Rene Alberto Olivarez, Valeria Taciana Osocrio De La Cruz, Benjamin Isaac Rodriguez, Hannah Georgene Salinas, Joaida Tornes, Andrea Abigail Uribe, Marco Antonio Urive, Lorenah Estevany Vasquez.

            The guest speaker for the event was Samantha Ramirez. She is a 2006 Veterans Memorial High School graduate and recipient of this award. Ramirez is currently a lecturer at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
