Mission CISD high school students advance to state Math-Science competition

            Mission, Texas- Mission High School (MHS) and Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) each had teams of students recently compete at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) state meet. This includes contests in Math, Calculator Applications, Number Sense, and Science.

            Mission High School (MHS) had 12 students compete at the state meet. The Calculator Application team placed ninth at the competition. The students who competed at state were: Ricardo Yruegas, Calculator Applications; Jin Gao, Math, Science; Katherine McKenna, Math, Science; Peter Silva, Math; Tiana Rivas, Math; Edgar Garza, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Math, Science; Samantha Alaniz, Calculator Applications; Kimberly Ramon, Calculator Applications; Alyssa Garza, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Math, Science; Alejandro Hernandez, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Math, Science; Enrique Elizondo, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Math, Science; Alexander Gonzalez, Number Sense, Calculator Applications, Math, Science.

            Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) had seven students compete at the state meet. Those students were: Hector Iglesias, Kimberly Garza, Gabriel Lozoya, Kellen Shults, Andres Vasquez, Emily Salinas, Michael Iglesias. The team placed eleventh overall. The Calculator Applications team consisting of Kimberly Garza, Hector Iglesias, Michael Iglesias, and Emily Salinas placed seventh. Other team members placing in the top individually were: Kimberly Garza, Emily Salinas, Michael Iglesias.
