MHS FFA students earn honors at RGVLS

 

            Mission, Texas- Several Mission High School (MHS) FFA members brought home multiple awards from the recent Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show. Nelida Garza took first place class champion and reserve breed champion overall for fine wool lamb. Amanda Granados earned first place class champion and reserve breed champion overall brahman heifer. Jacob Flores won second place reserve class champion and reserve breed champion overall AOB steer. First place class champion medium wool lamb was earned by Brianna Saenz. Rudy Salazar earned second place reserve class champion fine wool cross lamb. Sebastian Carillo earned a superior rating and fourth place overall champion in the wildlife equipment category. A superior rating and fourth place overall champion in the home interior category went to Ariana Pena. Jacob Flores earned a superior rating with a multiple wood cutting board.

            Others finishing in the top include: Genaro Duron, excellent rating, fifth place overall BBQ pit; Pedro Cantu, excellent rating, BBQ pit; Erick Ramirez, excellent rating, picnic table; Brandon De La Cruz, fourth place fine wool cross lamb; Erick Ramirez, fourth place brahman heifer; Marco Garcia, fifth place, market goat; Arianna Pena sixth place lamb; Samantha Young, sixth place, lamb; Kayla Mora, sixth place, lamb; Alan Hinojosa, sixth place, lamb; Annalissa Vela, sixth place, lamb; Jody Sifuentes, seventh place, lamb; Alan Hinojosa, seventh place, goat; Amanda Granados, eighth place, lamb; Nelida Garza, eighth place, pig; Christopher Venecia, ninth place, pig.

            The MHS FFA market lamb exhibitors won reserve champions in good housekeeping. Those team members were: Nelida Garza, Samantha Young, Kayla Mora, Amanda Granados, Alan Hinojosa, Rudy Salazar, Brandon De La Cruz, Jody Sifuentes, Annalissa Vela, Arianna Pena, Brianna Saenz.
