MHS librarian/teacher duo present to Georgia librarians

Mission, Texas- A collaboration between a teacher and librarian at Mission High School has caught the attention of librarians outside of Texas. The duo recently traveled to the University of Georgia to be presenters at the 47th Annual Georgia Children’s Book Awards and Conference on Children’s Literature.

Margie Longoria, librarian, and Araceli Chapa-Lejia presented a special program started by Longoria. The presentation is called, Shaking Up Shakespeare: Classic Literature with a Modern Twist. This book talk  was presented to both teachers and librarians at the conference. One of the focuses of the presentation is how to use modern books/stories to bridge the gap and make connections to some of the classics of literature.

Pictured are Chapa-Lejia and Longoria showing a copy of the conference program listing their presentation among the offerings at the conference.
