Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) academic UIL team is advancing a number of students to regional level competitions. They are advancing based on their recent performance at the District 31-5A UIL meet.
Students advancing for individual competitions are: Rene Olivarez, third place, Current Events; Valeria Flores, third place, Feature Writing; Michelle Mata, fourth place, Headline Writing; Isaac Martinez, first place; Informative Speaking; Joshua Alcarez, fourth place, Persuasive Speaking; Selee Mercado, third place, Prose Interpretation; Hector Iglesias, Top Chemistry; Kimberly Garza, first place, Spelling and Vocabulary; Hector Iglesias, first place, Computer Science.
