153 Mission CISD CTE students earn professional certificates through STC

Mission, Texas- When commencement ceremonies are held for the high schools of Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) on June 2. 153 of the graduates will already be career-ready upon their graduation. These students took advantage of programs offered through the district’s Career Technical Education Program to earn professional certifications. These programs are made available to Mission CISD students through partnerships with South Texas College (STC). In many cases, these certificates not only qualify the students for professional-level jobs, but also serve as a direct pathway to higher degrees and certifications.

The Mission CISD students graduating with professional certifications include: 117 multimedia specialist, 11 patient care assistant, 17 structural welding, 8 precision manufacturing technology. Mission CISD anticipates this number will continue to grow next year as other programs bear fruit for the first time next school year. Mission CISD also provides opportunities for students to work toward other professional certifications offered through state and national professional organizations and agencies. That number won’t be available for another couple of weeks as grades and certification exam results come in. In the past, this has topped 600 business and industry related certifications earned by Mission CISD graduates.
