Mission CISD continues to support and adherence to all Federal guidelines on nondiscrimination

Mission, Texas- In light of announcements made today by the President of the United States, and new guidance provided by the U.S. Department of Education, Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) officials reaffirmed a commitment to embracing  all children regardless of their race, creed, language, disability, sex, and sexual identity.

“We are firm believers that every child deserves a supportive, safe, and nondiscriminatory learning environment,” said Dr. Ricardo López, superintendent of schools. “We will review all policies and procedures to ensure they are in accordance with state and federal laws.”

Dr. López indicated that Mission CISD has received the “Dear Colleague” joint letter of guidance from the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education relating to transgender students and Federal Title IX requirements. “We will continue to work towards providing the best learning environment possible. Part of that involves inclusion, and nondiscrimination so all students can excel and grow.”
