June 2 to be a day of commencement ceremonies for Mission CISD

 

            Mission, Texas- June 2 will be a day of firsts for Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District). It will be the first time the district has hosted commencement ceremonies for three high schools, and it will be the first commencement ceremony for Mission Collegiate High School (MCHS). All three ceremonies will be held at the McAllen Convention Center.

            The first commencement ceremony will be for the graduates of Mission High School. It is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. The seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.” The presentation of colors will be led by Ricardo Yruegas. Gabriel Gonzalez will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem will be sung by the Mission High School Choir. Alejandra Karima Reyna will provide an invocation, followed by the official welcome by Anahi Farideh Barajas. Carlos Gabriel Garcia will introduce special guests in attendance. The salutatory address will be given by Jin Hui Gao, followed by the valedictory address by Katherine Nicole McKenna. Dr. Ricardo López, superintendent of schools, will provide the official certification of graduates and an address to the graduates. The members of the Class of 2016 will be awarded their diplomas by the Mission CISD Board of Trustees. A benediction will be provided by Stefanie Florez. The MHS “Alma Mater” will be led by Chelsea Valeria Martinez. The tassel ceremony will be led by David Flores. The senior song selection will be performed by Dante Rodriguez. The graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.”

            The second commencement ceremony will be for the graduates of Veterans Memorial High School. It is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. The seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.” The presentation of colors will be done by the VMHS JROTC. Tomas Alejandro Garcia will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem will be sung by Vanessa Michelle Cano Ortiz. Hannabeth Raschel Medina will provide an invocation, followed by the official welcome by Feliciano Escobedo. VMHS principal, Angelina V. Garcia will introduce special guests in attendance. There will be three addresses during the program. The first will be by, Dr. Ricardo López, superintendent of schools. The salutatory address will be given by Rene Alberto Olivarez, followed by the valedictory address by Hector Luis Iglesias. López will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the members of the Class of 2016 will be awarded their diplomas by the Mission CISD Board of Trustees. A benediction will be provided by Valeria Taciana Osorio De La Cruz. The senior song selection will be performed by: Ashley Danielle Alaniz, Brandi Kay Alaniz, Maria Angelica Almendarez, Bryanna Janessa Barrera, Vanessa Michelle Cano Ortiz, Victoria Fajardo, Anthony Lopez Jr., Adrienne Emily Lugo, Stephanie Fay McCoy, Johnny Platas, Stormi Lexi Rodriguez, Mark William Stuart, Desiray Nicole Trevino, Lizbeth Vasquez, Rachel Gabriele Walzer. The tassel ceremony will be led by Brittany Nicole Bazaldua. The graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.”

            The third and final ceremony of the day will be for the graduates of Mission Collegiate High School. It is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. This will bring to an end, four years of firsts for the school as it graduates its first group of seniors. The seniors will enter with the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance.” The presentation of colors will be led by Barbara Ramirez. Jennifer Kearns will lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem will be sung by Adan Gallardo. Josue Prestigue will present the Vision Statement. Jose Garcia will provide an invocation, followed by the official welcome by Jennifer Gracia. Cesar Cervantes will introduce special guests in attendance. There will be three addresses during the program. The first will be by, Dr. Ricardo López, superintendent of schools. The salutatory address will be given by Joselyne Rodriguez, followed by the valedictory address by Bianca Rodriguez. López will provide the official certification of graduates, after which, the members of the Class of 2016 will be awarded their diplomas by the Mission CISD Board of Trustees. The tassel ceremony will be led by Jean Gonzalez, followed by a special presentation by Kenya Overvides. A benediction will be provided by John Espinoza. The graduates will depart to “War March of the Priest.”
