RCJH student recognized for voracious reading

Mission, Texas- R. Cantu Jr. High School (RCJH) student Pauline Llanas started the school year with a goal to read a lot. She wanted to read 10 million words as a part of the school’s Renaissance Accelerated Reader program. Through this program, students read books of choice; and, then, take a computerized test about the books read. Students are then credited with reading the number of words in the book only if they attain a top score on the book tests.

Llanas not only met that goal, but exceeded her goal by a very large margin. The last official report credited her with having read 10,050,311words. That is more than any other junior high school student in the district.
