100% of Phlebotomy/EKG students pass national certification exams

 

            Mission, Texas- Sixteen students from Mission High School (MHS) and Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) jumped a major hurdle in their race towards career readiness. The dual enrollment students have been working on their skills and knowledge through a program offered through the district’s partnership with South Texas College.

            Their hard work has paid off. All 16 students involved in the Phlebotomy and EKG (electrocardiogram) program have passed the national exams for both certifications. No other high school program in the area had a 100% passing rate on the national certification exams. These students can now apply for jobs in any hospital or clinic to work as a certified phlebotomist or EKG technicians.

            The students from Mission High School are: Anahi Barajas, Myra Gill, Gerardo Gonzalez, Jesselle Gonzalez, Alexis Martinez, Deanne Navarro, Juan Olvera. The students from Veterans Memorial High School are: Brittany Cuellar, Victoria Fajardo, Sofia Puga, Daisy Rios, Katia Rodriguez, Julio Santana, Rosa Silva, Michael Velazquez.
