First to break the million mark

In less than one week of school, a student at Bryan Elementary School broke the million-word mark in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. Fourth grader, Ayesha Mumtaz is the first Mission CISD student breaking the million-word count barrier this school year.

Mumtaz did lots of reading over the summer and wasted no time taking AR tests on the books she completed during the break. She was credited with 1,008,309 words read, based on successfully completed AR tests at the time she broke the million-word mark.
