Audi San Juan contributes to scholarships and the Battle of Conway

Mission, Texas- Audi San Juan made a special visit to the Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) Tom Landry Stadium today. Dealership representatives presented the district with the first of five annual scholarship donations. One thousand dollars will go to support scholarships at Mission High School and Veterans Memorial High School each year for five years.

In addition to accepting the first scholarship payments, district officials also accepted the donation of a new trophy that will be added to the traditional trophy helmet used in the annual “Battle of Conway” football game between Mission High School and Veterans Memorial High School. The winning team will be presented with both the helmet and the trophy for display the coming year. The Battle of Conway will be held this Friday, September 2, at Tom Landry Stadium. Kick off is 7:30 p.m.

Receiving the donation checks and new trophy on behalf of Mission CISD were: Dr. Ricardo López, superintendent; Joe Sanchez, athletics director; Koy Detmer, Mission High School head football coach/athletics coordinator; and David Gilpin, Veterans Memorial High School head football coach/athletics coordinator.
