Migrant Robotics Program Showcases its Success at State Conference

The MCISD Migrant Robotics Program presented at the Association for Migrant Educators of Texas (AMET) annual conference held in November at South Padre Island. The theme for the conference was “Planting Dreams: Building Deep Roots,” and the Robotics Program served as an example of how a program can become established from a seed idea.

The Migrant Robotics Program began in the 2013-2014 school year and has grown to have students compete in Robotics/STEM competitions at the local, state and national level. In the first year, one of our students earned an opportunity of a lifetime and competed at the National Science Bowl in Washington, D. C. after winning a Regional Science Bowl Championship.

The Mission CISD Migrant Robotics Program has laid the foundation for Robotics to become an initiative for all students in the school district. Pictured are Migrant Department staff members Sammy Rivera, Robert Granados and Noe Peña.
