Book grant will add to home libraries of students at seven Mission CISD schools

Mission, Texas- A special book grant program through The Molina Foundation will be providing an extra surprise for students at seven Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) elementary schools. The Molina Foundation donation will allow for each student at the selected campuses to take home a book in the coming weeks to add to their home libraries.

The schools receiving the book grant are: Bryan Elementary School, Cantu Elementary School, Cavazos Elementary School, Escobar/Rios Elementary School, Leal Elementary School, Midkiff Elementary School, and Mims elementary School.

Since its inception in 2004, The Molina Foundation has worked with more than 2,000 organizations and schools donating over 3 million books and hosting workshops and programs for educators and families. The Molina Foundation works hand-in-hand with community based organizations in vulnerable communities. They partner with preschool programs, clinics, schools, family service organizations, churches, and other civic organizations serving low-income and at-risk families.

Parent volunteers from Mission CISd recently helped sort and separate the book donation. This totalled 218 boxes of books. Each of the seven schools will receive over 800 books for students. Pictured, are some of the volunteers as they worked sorting the books for delivery to the schools.
