VMHS' Stephanie Leger Decorates Ornament for Tree at Texas State Capitol

Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) student Stephanie Leger is a first-year art student and will already have her work displayed at the state level. Art teacher Maria L. Guerra asked Stephanie to decorate an ornament for Representative Sergio Munoz of District 36. The ornament represents the rich agricultural history of Mission; it depicts grapefruit and orange trees with the Tawny Brown Emperor butterfly, one of the many butterflies that exclusively live off our citrus trees. The ornament painted by Stephanie will grace one of the trees inside our State Capitol in Austin. Stephanie sees herself developing her skills at VMHS and pursuing a career in art; she is the daughter of Ana and Stephen Leger of Alton. Pictured is Stephanie with VMHS Principal Fidel Garza.
