Two Veterans Memorial HS DECA Teams Advance to Nationals

Congratulations to Veterans Memorial High School’s DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) chapter for a successful showing at the DECA State Career Development Conference in San Antonio this past weekend. Two teams were selected as finalists to advance as alternates to the International Career Development Conference to be held in Anaheim, California on April 26-29. 

Alek Garza, Andres Lopez and Abraham Ibarra† were finalists in the Learn & Earn Project, and Kaleb Tamez and Katelyn Rivas were finalists in the Public Relations Project.

Andres Lopez was also elected as Texas DECA State Vice President of Leadership.  

A total of 24 students competed at the state conference: Joshua Alcaraz, Karina Arrezola, Adrian Castaneda, Roel Cortez, Maria Diaz, Klarissa Farias, Andrea Flores, Alek Garza, Abraham Ibarra†, Samantha Langarica, Ericka Leo, Andres Lopez, Rey Maldonado, Alejandro Martinez, Jaqueline Martinez, Maia Mendoza, Ivan Pena, Monique Pena, Isaac Perez, Brianna Pulido, Alyssa Ramirez, Katelyn Rivas, Christian Sarinana, and Kaleb Tamez.
