The Bluebonnet Books consist of 20 different books, selected by a committee of librarians from the Texas Library Association.

This year, student contestants had an extra treat. They got to share a meal with award winning author, David Bowles, who also spent some time sharing with the students.

The annual Mission CISD Battle of the Bluebonnet Books contest challenges the campus teams of five with answering several questions about each of the 20 books on the Bluebonnet list in a quiz-show style format. The concept was first introduced by, then Bryan Elementary School librarian, Charlyn Trussell, eight years ago.
