Mission CISD embarks on strategic planning journey

Mission, Texas- Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is taking its planning to the next level. Like many other schools and districts, Mission CISD and its campuses have used an annual planning process to meet the district’s official goals. The district has just started a more in-depth planning process that will help shape and mold the district’s direction for five years.

Over the next several months, the district will be working with Studer Education on developing a five year strategic plan. This process takes several months in order to carefully focus on identifying a vision for success for the district through input from stakeholder groups. These stakeholder groups will incorporate all aspects of Mission CISD and the communities it serves. This includes, but is not limited to: students, district employees at every level, business leaders, community leaders, parents, etc. Once a vision of success is defined, then a five year plan on how to achieve that vision is developed.

“Through this process we should have a clear definition of what were we expect to be in five years and the general strategies we will use to get there,” explained Dr. Ricardo López, superintendent. “This tool is then used by everyone during annual planning and becomes the focus for moving the district forward to better serve our students and community.”

López also said Studer Education will continue to work with the district over the next five years in implementing the strategic plan and adjusting the plan. “It becomes a living document that adjusts with the district, moving forward,” he said.

The goal is to have completed the main strategic planning creative process in June.
