VMHS student selected to perform at Sydney Opera House

            Mission, Texas- Veterans Memorial High School student, Logan Dovalina has been selected for the 2018 High School Honors Performance Series to be held at the world-famous Sydney Opera House in Australia. He will perform as a Tenor 1 in July as a part of the Honors Choir. Participation in one of the two Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest-rated high school performers from across the world.

            Earlier this year, Dovalina auditions for the Honors Performance Series and was accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. His opportunity to audition for this grew out of his performances associated with the Texas Music Educators Association competitions.

            In addition to his participation in the VMHS choir programs, he is also a member of the Southwest American Choral Directors Association Honor Choir and had previously been selected to perform with student as a part of the Honors Performance Series Honor Choir in New York City.

            Finalists will come together in Sydney for six days in July. They will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned conductors, work with other finalists, and get a taste of Sydney. The Honors Performance will take place on Saturday, July 21.
