MCISD Physical Education and Health teachers attend annual convention

There were approximately 20 of Mission CISD Physical Education & Health teachers that attended the annual TAHPERD convention (Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance) on November 28 - December 1, 2018  in Galveston, Texas. This is a Texas-based association composed of over 4,500 professional and student members serving education from kindergarten through college. TAHPERD is committed to the development of knowledge and programs that promote active, healthy lifestyles and enhance skilled, aesthetic motor performance.

“This is a great opportunity for Mission CISD Teachers to see what others in the profession are doing in the state of Texas in relation to curriculum, classroom management and equipment for instruction,” states Martina Carrillo (P.E./Health Coordinator).

Teachers get to collaborate with other professionals in the field first-hand and get ideas to enhance what we are doing for Mission CISD PE/Health Department.  The MCISD group attending TAHPERD ranged from elementary, middle school, and high school PE & Health teachers. Coach Amparo Rosales and Coach Irene Gallegos also had the opportunity to present at the convention with their topic Keep it Simple Silly - Health Writing Across the Curriculum & Chalupa Rules for Your Health.
