Mission, Texas- 41 teachers at Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) had something to celebrate this morning. The group of new teachers who are just starting their teaching careers this year officially completed their New Teachers’ Support Academy training. Mission CISD partners with the Region One Education Service Center (ESC) to provide a series of workshops to help support teachers new to the field in their first year. The goal is to help ensure the teachers begin their careers on the right foot and have additional tools to help them grow in their profession.
Through several sessions held the past few months, the teachers are provided with support on student engagement, classroom management, tips on maximizing student learning, student assessment, and how to use data to help make appropriate decisions on closing achievement gaps students may have.
A part of their transition into the field of teaching also includes working with an experienced teacher mentor throughout the process.
