Welcome to MCISD Parental Involvement Department
Title I, Part A
Parental Involvement has always been the centerpiece of Title I. With NCLB, a law passed by Congress with strong support from both political parties, it now has a strong statutory definition. The statute defines parental involvement as the participation of parents in a regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, ensuring:
- parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning
- parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education
- parents are full partners in decision making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child
- and other activities are carried out that will build the capacity of all parents
The purpose of Title I, Part A is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach a minimum, proficiency on the challenging state academic achievement standards. Parental involvement is beyond a PTO requirement, it is supported by federal funds, and a Title I School-wide campus must comply with Title I program information requirements.
Each of our campuses provides Title I, Part A program information through parent meetings, activities, and presentations to improve student achievement.
We encourage all parents to attend training and meetings that support student learning and family information on health, social, and educational services at your child’s campus.
